Zeppelin Not Worthy

I got an email from someone through my site contact page. Found it highly amusing. I like the "I am only doing this for your benefit... you will be a changed man" part. Is he serious? Dare I post his email so you can fire something back at him? To his credit, I do need to update my other musical interests page. In my defense, I'd have to say "With God On Our Side" is one of my favorite songs. By the way, my brother bought me the new (new for me anyway) Led Zeppelin DVD. I'm stoked.

"Please move on with the Led Zeppelin thing. They are not that great. Yea, they put out a couple of good albums. I like or used to like II. Please move on to bigger and better things musically....

"Iam only doing this for your benefit. With this I will list a few albums that will help you through this troubled time musically.

1. Bob Dylan "Blonde On Blonde"

2. Bob Dylan "Highway 61"

3. Bob Dylan "Blood On The Tracks"

4. Bob Dylan "Nashville Skyline"

5. Bob Dylan "The Freewheeling Bob Dylan"

"That's it for now. After review of these albums get in touch with me. I can assist you in your journey. I assure you, you will be a changed man. Please go ahead and take the Zep to Vintage Vinyl, trade them in and buy these albums. It will make you more infromed musically, a better human being, and most importantly you will discover the lyrical genius of Dylan.

"Concerned,
F.F."

I find it interesting that all those albums are by Bob Dylan. Couldn't you just as easily say: Please go ahead and take the Dylan albums to Vintage Vinyl? I love Bobby D, but come on there is no comparision. The difference between Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin: I would spend 60 dollars to see Dylan, I would sell everything I own to see Zeppelin...

LOL. I didn't think of that, Alex. Good argument! I'm still baffled that anyone would bother to write an email like that, unless it's some sort of canned spam (excuse the pun) message they're sending out. Maybe I'll reply to the bugger.

I wonder why this guy didn't mention Jimi Hendrix.

That guy needs help,Bob Dylan is great, but seriously,"Lyricle Genius", "this troubled time musically." I'm dumbfounded that that someone could insult Zeppelin like that. In basicly every Zeppelin song, Robert Plant's lyrics were much more effective that any Bob Dylan song I've ever herd.

#C8 | By: Snug Press | Mon 2005Jan10 15:18 CST

It is very funny that he only mentioned Bob Dylan and not Jimi Hendrix or King Crimson or something. I like BD...but come on. Pretty hypocritical.

Though I thought I'd have more to say.

guys theres really no way that "bob d" can even come close in comparing to led zeppelin. i mean come on what are you guys retarded! led zeppelin and the beatles are the greatest band ever. the music now a days such as simple plan and good charolette suck so bad its a embarssment to music. ANYWAYS LED ZEPPELIN ROCKS!!!!!

Thanks for all the comments, y'all. It's been interesting to see the kind of replies I get, especially from this self-proclaimed autistic guy, Midezianik (Archive.org has a cache of his page if you just type in the URL from his one of his comments above). You should see the even weirder comments I've received on my Kyle Maynard post!

Getting in line at 7:30 a.m. for tickets that go on sale at 10:00 a.m. was well worth the effort. Tickets were gone in less than an hour. We'll be enjoying Robert Plant on March 11th.

Is it just me or does he tell me to listen to other music, while his other music is all the same artist. This to me is like a mexican calling a portorican brown.....get my drift?

led zeppelin and the beatles are not a band. They are two bands. 'led zeppelin' is great. 'the beatles' are great. 'led zeppelin and the beatles' do not exist. they are seperate bands. the greatest bands. not the greatest band.

There's so much to say to someone who slams Zeppelin. I can maybeunderstand someone not LOVING them (not really but I'll be fair) but taking them back to a 2nd hand music store? Who performed this guys lobotomy? Can you think of any bands that can come close to Zep? Consider their musical excellence, their creative spontanaeity and the range of music on their albums, etc, etc.!!. It's just sad that most bands today dont see/hear/know/play what is possible!! I could go on and on but chances are on this site I would be preaching to the converted. Rock on fellow Led Heads!! Love ya

Hi,

I just wrote this to my ex-girlfriend yesterday and went searching for more info and ran across your site. Opinions vary, but this is mine..after repeated attempts to like him I only like few really.

The funniest part of SRTS is the late Peter Grant the manager chewing out the guys that run the stadium for allowing t-shirt vendors in that weren't licensed. The movie would be worth it to hear that alone..it is hilarious.

From the LZ box set booklet:

Peter met Bob Dylan at an L.A. party ..Grant offered a warm handshake .."I'm Peter Grant, manager of Led Zeppelin," he said. Dylan replied "I don't come to you with my problems, do I? " "It was the only time I'd ever seen Grant at a loss for words. "

I believe that after seeing Peterin the movie.

There is nothing TO say to an ass like that. He did his part and was cordial. To tell you the truth, I think Bob Dylan sings like a cat being strangled. Screechy harmonica because he can't play it! Overrated beyond description.

OK...
A>My friend once told me that he would sacrifice his left nut for John Bonham to come back so he could see Led Zeppelin. With out a doubt I would do the same and more(yah both testicles). I'm a guy and I have long hair. I wouldn't ****** cut it 2 inches just to see Bob Dylan.
B>This guy is a ****** hypocrit.
C>You cannot compare a BAND to an ARTIST. Any combination of musicians is better than A musician to a certain extent. But To be fair I'll tell you some musicians better than Bob Dylan.:Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Warren Haynes(for those that know of him), and thats just a few cause I know I'm forgeting some.
D>Call me a hypocrit but there is nothing bigger and better musically
E>I can assure you there is no record in the world I would trade in my Zeppelin records for. EXCEPT the same record signed....actually I wouldn't I want both copies *****.
F>There is one thing that will cause my friend and I to look at each other and say "This is the life" Cruisin on a beautiful summer day(to the beach of course), windows down, sunroof open(preferrably in a VW of some sort), and Immigrant Song blarin through the speakers.
G>I highly suggest you never give advice to any person, any object, or any living thing on how to be better than what they are.

I don't get how someone can diss Led Zeppelin and not get shot while walking down the street. Let alone walking down the street to hand in their albums to a SECOND HAND STORE!! What is wrong with this guy! Just listen to the mainstream music these days. It sucks!! There'd be the odd song out of a hundred you might remember a week after you heard it, but still even that is hard to find. We may never come across a new age band as close to as F****** awesome as Led Zeppelin. To all the Zeppelin fans out there remember, "Led Zeppelin......For Life"

#C19 | By: Nadi | Sat 2005Dec24 19:47 CST

i don't know what turned this guy off. all i can say is that led zeppelin performs the kind of music that touches people in a way that only we the fans can understand. come to think of it, i'm glad we don't have zeppelin alike bands these days. the seventies were really special years. i would have loved to live in that time period. don't get me wrong, i love bob dylan, but led zepelin is basically and simply the greatest band in this world. you just can't compair any other band. i like how someone said that
you can't compair a band to a musician, especially led zeppelin. ALL OF MY LOVE is for led zeppelin. trade my records for the 5 listed? NEVER! it just wouldn't cross my mind. and never has crossed my mind. i think led zeppelin has given its fans a wider look on life. theyve allowed us to think freely, and be connected with their thoughts. which is too cool. i love them. and if ever they rejoin as one band, i will cry throughout the entire show. keep standing for led zeppelin. can you immagine how amazing and satisfying it would be to see led zeppelin? that would be the day when i would feel so uplifted and 100%free. to all you fans who have seen them in action, don't ever forget it
-peace

Sounds like he is just trying to rattle some chains. Come on...Bob,Bob,Bob,Bob and Bob over Zepelin. He can't be real, sounds like a joke, nobody can be that stupid.

#C21 | By: Joe | Wed 2006Aug02 08:06 CST

I like how, if you are a true deep Zeppelin fan you have all the roots. They played about every type of music available their time. To love Led Zeppelin is to love everything, including Bobby Dylan usually, thus making you MUCH MUCH MUCH more well rounded than just listening to Dylan. And even if the ONLY band you EVER listened to was Led Zeppelin you're still getting so much more type of music!! lol

I find it hilarious that his comeback was one man ahahaha
