While it is more of an underground effort (not even on Amazon), I just discovered that a Robert Plant Tribute album was released on my birthday (Sept28) called Plant Waves which features 11 covers by North American artists. Yeah, I'm not a big Plant fan, but LZE is lacking in Led Zep news! Also, rumor has it that Plant has joined up with Strange Sensation again to release Another Tribe, 13 brand new tracks due out in March (via TBL/Web).

Robert "please don't call me Bob" Plant missed his opportunity to have a truly fitting title for his next CD. The opp was taken by William "go ahead, call me Bill" Shatner with his new spoken word CD titled quite simply "HASBEEN" .
Well, at least Bill can take a joke and a self taken poke.
So now we have Roberto Plantalbaun trying to "comeback" after a completely self indulgent romp through Dreamland two years ago. What Bob dosen't understand is that a proposed attempt of "Physical Graffiti meets Cairo" is too pretentious - too late (if not too little) for the old guard fanbase that he chose to alienate himself from since 1993.
At his age (not to mention twelve years ago) he should know that except for a scant few musical icons like Bob Dylan or The Beatles, he can't cross over into the "youth market" who sometimes pickup on the wave of older creative geniouses.
So what's the point? He is known for a particular kind of crowd pleasing woop-woop. The crowd is older. And they don't want to hear anymore middle eastern sounding rehashes of Kashmir. They want a CD with some decent sounding catchy tunes ala Now&Zen or Manic Nirvana and a well promoted large venue concert tour to go with it. Period.
Bob needs to start preaching to the choir again because no one is out in the pews.
thanks for listening,
Choirboy
