Kyle Maynard Called Disabled

I decided to watch an Evolution vs. Creationism debate on Paula Zahn Now last night. While that was ho hum, Larry King Live followed up with a great interview of an amazing UGA wrestler named Kyle Maynard. Kyle was born with no joints in his limbs.

I'll admit that I'm partial to wrestlers since I was one back in high school. A great sport for building character, it probably did my knees in sooner than I would have liked - but I digress. I am most impressed with Maynard's ability to simplify things, take initiative, and be persistent & positive. For example, he made mention of wanting an SUV with long pedals; that's the only modification he needs! (King took advantage of the moment to petition viewers to contact Maynard at his website if anyone knows of such a vehicle.) I don't know how many speaking events he'll be doing now that he's in college, but I'd definitely go see him if I heard that he was coming to Nashville.

While I'm on the topic, does anyone remember Mattie Stepanek? He passed away in June at the age of 13. “Our ears are for listening, But so are our hearts,” from Heartsongs (2002).

I am in the business of helping people realizing their dreams. We dream,we decide,we take actions,we contract a new habit and we change our life for the best... so we always tell people " If you BELIEVE IT you'll SEE IT". But this time I had to SEE IT to BELIEVE IT. Kyle Maynard...you moved my heart and my soul and I praise you for your courage in the face of such great adversity. How can I get a DVD of you?

I read your story in our daily devotion book and I was intrigued. I just want to tell you that I am so proud that someone did not let anything stop them from obtaining the goal they set out to accomplish. It is sad to see so many tennagers and young people who are entirely capable of doing what ever they want to do, but they come up with crazy excuses to keep from serving God or living up to their full potential. Thank you so much for being an inspiation to people everyone. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Kyle,

I had the honor of meeting you at a meeting (Pondemonium)in Illinois, and you are amazing. I have a family member in a wheelchair and can hardly wait to show him the picture of you and I together. I would love to know if you are ever around the North Carolina area because I would love for him to come and listen to you. I feel you are a true inspiration and have shown that with faith and the Lord ANYTHING is possible. Thanks again for taking time out from your busy life and your girlfriends also to come and speak to our group. Good luck with the UFC I look forward to seeing you in the UFC soon!

Take Care,
