What is it that inspires you? What are you planning to accomplish? Have you been challenged with these questions in self-help books? My first response has always been, "Spread the good news, because it brings joy." Countless parables and illustrations from the Greek Testament of the Bible attest to the sharing of faith. I'd like some honest comments on why so many insist that faith is a personal matter. "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed...", said Jesus.
"You're not necessarily supposed to believe it," he says wearily. "You're just supposed to believe in it. It's like—a metaphor," said Edward Bloom (Wallace, 112). This statement puzzles me because a lot of people believe (in) it!
This weekend's interstate drive was probably the best fifteen hours that I've ever spent on the road. Weather from Nashville to Charlotte and back was just perfect, and I've got pictures to show it: check out new shots in the 04reese (majority of new photos), 0408, & images albums.
There isn't much that I've mastered on my blog and website, especially compared to the greats. I was, however, able to find a good tip on Elise.com for improving the feeds on MT sites. Another goal is to get a handle on trackbacks, which I currently have disabled (I don't get enough traffic anyway). The two other things worth mentioning are the use of a Creative Commons license, and recommendations for AWStats. Help me out here...
I had already mentioned that Marcos Curiel had formed a new band, but they now have all (8) of their EP tunes out for free download. From reading their site's message board (frequented by the band members and manager, which is rare), AeX has been around for over a year now. I'm so disappointed that I hadn't heard about them sooner. Full album due out in "early 2005".
I logged into my "junk mail" account that I have on Hotmail (I only check it about once a week) and noticed that it's showing 250 MB. Looks like MSN started rolling out the long-awaited promise today, but I've noticed that some people don't have it yet. Word is getting out on the message boards... Just thought I'd share the good news!
I got on a kick of checking out some movie sites this afternoon. In addition to using my regular resources, I discovered ComingSoon.net (behind the scenes rollout of new Star Wars DVDs) and KillerMovies (Lucas talks about Episodes 7-9). I've been using cin-o-matic (like a fast-loading, compact IMDb) for a while, as well. Each has been added to the /movies section. Following are also some specific movies out on DVD or in theaters I've found particularly notable; I just realized that I haven't seen any of them (other than the SW trilogy on VHS or TV).
Yet another toy added to the list of wordly goods. I've had my Treo 600 (Verizon) for almost two weeks now, and I'm racking up comparison points to the Visor Digital Link (aka VisorPhone; Sprint) that I had for a year. Expect frequent updates to this review (and likely other entries about the Treo in the blog) . To start, the main reasons I replaced the phone: company discount for Verizon, couldn't hear people using the Visor phone, and the thing was just too big.
These past few days were quite interesting. Took a few shots with both digital cameras (got one on my new Treo - see the upcoming blog entry about that purchase): 0408 Gallery. It was sad coming back to work, especially since I'm really starting to hate spending 8 hours of my day in an ice box with no windows. The following is a fun meander through Labor Day Weekend at the Megs'n'JJ residence.
