While it is more of an underground effort (not even on Amazon), I just discovered that a Robert Plant Tribute album was released on my birthday (Sept28) called Plant Waves which features 11 covers by North American artists. Yeah, I'm not a big Plant fan, but LZE is lacking in Led Zep news! Also, rumor has it that Plant has joined up with Strange Sensation again to release Another Tribe, 13 brand new tracks due out in March (via TBL/Web).
I got an email from someone through my site contact page. Found it highly amusing. I like the "I am only doing this for your benefit... you will be a changed man" part. Is he serious? Dare I post his email so you can fire something back at him? To his credit, I do need to update my other musical interests page. In my defense, I'd have to say "With God On Our Side" is one of my favorite songs. By the way, my brother bought me the new (new for me anyway) Led Zeppelin DVD. I'm stoked.
"Please move on with the Led Zeppelin thing. They are not that great. Yea, they put out a couple of good albums. I like or used to like II. Please move on to bigger and better things musically....
"The MAS tour has finished and I shall take a few weeks off to recover.... I hope now to spend the next few months writing and recording for my next solo album and attempt to turn all this inspiration into hard currency whilst the fingers are hot and the brain is buzzing!", says John Paul Jones. Never a dull moment in this man's life; I've always found him to be the most diverse (musically) LZ member.
The last paragraph of this entry has been crossed out. Since there was so much misinformation about this release until this week, I'm just rewriting the entry! Note the news about Plant and Beck with a new track on the *Roll the Dice* compilation. LZ bonus material is becoming virtually endless: (1) *No Quarter: Unledded* will be released on Oct26. (2) It will be in select Regal E.G. theaters the day before. (3) The *Unledded* CD will be rereleased with extra tracks on the 26th, as well.
'05May10 update: In reference to Chris's comment, he attached an mp3 of the title song. Think this is just an original tune made for the DVD? atozep.mp3 (721KB)
Released on June 8th, this "Unauthorized Story of Led Zeppelin" DVD contains interviews from people who witnessed Zeppelin's heyday. You probably want to play a Zeppelin mix in the background while you're watching, though - there is no music on the disc (hence the subtitle).
I honestly don't remember them. Plant formed this with Brian Setzer and some other Blues/R&B artists in '81. Rumor has it that they're looking to record again.
Probably the most underrated member of LZ, John Paul Jones will be touring the US with the Mutual Admiration Society (Nickel Creek & Glenn Phillips) from July 27th (Seattle) through August 19th (Wash. DC).
