 T h e  5   B e s t
LAUNCH (music videos) Largest supply of music videos
CDnow.com Buy CDs and DVDs
AllMusic.com Quality info on many many artists
Kazaa Lite One of the many descendants of Napster. I'm no expert on file-swapping programs, but this one works well for me. Rates high on Zeropaid.com, too.
Alaska Jim's Music Charts All sorts of links to different charts all over the world

Zeropaid.com - "the file sharing portal" = most comprehensive site on the subject.
Gnutella.com - the official network that all these file-swapping applications use.
Gnutelliums.com - news, forums, and other information about Gnutella stuff.
TheRecordIndustry.com - haven't used it much, but it looks pretty good at first glance. NOT your typical record industry, but mostly about file-swapping and mp3 stuff.
musiclink.com - an activism site promoting musical diversity free from commercialism.
OpenP2P.com - broader scope including instant messaging and distributed computing articles

altarnet.tv - a TV show, but also a good source for the latest on Christian-related music.

CDnow.com (now part of Amazon.com) & AbbyRoad.com (previously All-Music) are fast ways to buy music or get Real Audio sound files of the songs you like. The New Musical Express is another site like the CDnow, but it's based in the UK.

PickTheHits.com - An interesting approach to listening to new music (need RealAudio)

SecondSpin.com & CashForCDs.com are both good sites that sell cheap used CDs.

BAND SPECIFIC
Note: UBL.com has links to thousands of bands.  I think they've got it set up real well, although you don't get the quality links there like you do here!  See also my Favorite Bands list for more band-specific links.

2nd Chapter of Acts - Phil Keaggy-era Christian classic rock.  Bet you never even knew that category existed!  While I'm not a fan of Abba (maybe Sly & the Family... would be a preferable comparison), that's what 2nd Chapter reminds me of ;-)

AudioSlave Online - with the depth of this site, you'd have thought this band has been out for years.  By far the best AudioSlave site so far.  More links on this band available on my main music page with a special section on this Rage Against the Machine follow-up band.

The Beatles were #1 on VH1's six hour special, the 100 Greatest Artists of Rock & Roll (April '98). Come to think of it, I don't own any Beatles CDs, but 95% of their songs are not just good, but great.
(These links are okay, but PLEASE let me know of other good ones if you have favorites!)
Abbeyrd's Beatles Page - THE Beatles news site!
Andrei Varusha's Beatles Page - lyrics, tabs, pics, history, although not a five star site, in my opinion.
The Beatles - Across the Universe - links by topic and lots of pics
The Internet Beatles Album - beyond the basic Beatles info. Cool facts and stories.
The Legend of John Lennon - lyrics, poetry, news, you name it.  Has a few midis, RealAudios, and soon will have some short mp3s.

The Black Crowes Official Web Site - Pretty good: news, sounds, info, chat...
Conspiracy's Black Crowes Site - top Crowes mp3 site as well as their happenings

Creedence.ca - wahoo! Awesome band and loaded site (graphics aren't even necessary). Last updated 1998 February, though.
CCR Tribute Pages - more graphically pleasing; last udated 1999 September!

Dark Size of Oz 1.1 - downloadable tool, MAC only. See other movies listed in discussion - crazy stuff!

Dada links - you decide which site you like best

Hwy.gif (44614 bytes)The Doors "aimed to unite performer and audience by plugging directly into the Universal Mind. They would settle for nothing less.  For them that meant risk, no gimmicks, nothing up their sleeves, no elablorate staging or special effects - only naked, dangerous reality, piercing the veil of maya with the music's ability to awaken man's own dormant and eternal powers." - Danny Sugarman, No One Here Gets Out Alive
- "If my poetry aims to achieve anything, it's to deliver people from the limited ways in which they see and feel." - James Douglas Morrison
