Louisville STI testing experience

Last Friday, I spent four hours at the Specialty Clinic on Barrett Ave.  I try to go in for regular sexually transmitted infection tests (STI/STDs: HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, etc.) about once a year, but this is my first attempt in Louisville. As you can imagine, this may be TMI for many of you, so proceed at your own risk. Read more Louisville STI testing experience

The hazards and joys of bus commuting

I’ve been riding the bus to work for over five months. People frequently ask me what it’s like, so I present to you the good, the bad, and the ugly of bus commuting in Louisville, Kentucky. (See 12/15 UPDATE at the end about the bus breaking down.)

ASAPC Computer Support launches

Instead of spending time on a typical Tuesday Zep, I’ve been pulling apart PCs for the new computer support business that Jon and I have launched: ASAPC. While most technophiles avoid being the “computer guy” for family and friends, it’s actually something I enjoy, so tell people in the South Louisville area that Jon and I are friendly, qualified computer guys. See ASAPCsupport.com for details. A picture is worth a thousand words:

Louisville Attractiveness

My friend Kurt and I revisited the people watching survey from last year. Last month, he was visiting from Nashville and we were sitting outside the Heine Bros on Bardstown & Douglass. In addition to taking the Dancin’ Kid Vid, we took about 45 minutes to judge the people around us and agree if they were attractive or not.

Dancin’ Kid Vid

My friend Kurt was up for a few days last week and we were spending some time on Bardstown road – Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen, Za’s (1st time there, noticed they have Xingu), Bunz, Baxter Avenue Theater, and just about every used music & movie store. We also stopped by Desserts by Helen, but they had closed 20 minutes before we got there. Kurt was determined to have dessert, so he got some Graeter’s ice cream next door. It wasn’t unbearably hot outside, so we sat down at the Heine Bros patio. We were conducting the Attractiveness Experiment redux (results coming soon) when a kid, probably 17 years old, walked out of the coffee shop with his laptop and headphones, apparently ready to rock. I took a video.

I work again

After a week back in the workforce, I was feeling quite philosophical, but I couldn’t come up with a good theme that would work as a Tuesday Zep. Maybe next week if I’m feeling up to the task – it will probably be a private post, too…. Think “This I Used to Believe”. In the meantime, a few bits and pieces of what I’ve been up to lately.
