Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, And caused the dawn to know its place, That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it? ^ Job 38:12-13 (NASB) |

The Account of Adam (see Strong's reference for bold words). Notice the lack of "he", "she", "son", "father", "man", and other gender terms in the original Hebrew? A simple study of the words in their original language reveals a lot about the patriarchal nature of translations over the years even though the original language has remained the same. See my new gender article for more passages like this.... This is the book of the generations of adam. In the day that God created adam, in the likeness of God was [adam] made; [God] created them male and female; and blessed them, and called their name adam, in the day when they were created. And Adam lived 130 years, and begat a child in likeness and in image; and pronounced its name Seth. And the days of Adam, after Seth was begotten, were 800 years: and he begat bane and daughters. And all the days that Adam lived were 930 years and he died. And Seth lived 105 years, and begat Enos. And Seth lived, after Enos was begotten, 807 years, and begat bane and daughters. And all the days of Seth were 912 years and he died. ^ Genesis 5:1-8 .... But the LORD said , "Not so 1; whoever kills Cain, that person will suffer vengeance seven times over." Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod2, east of Eden. Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his child Enoch. To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad begat Mehujael, and Mehujael begat Methushael, and Methushael begat Lamech. Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah. Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the ab of those who live in tents and raise livestock. His brother's name was Jubal; he was the ab of all who play the harp and flute. Zillah also had Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of 3 bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah. Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, listen to me;Adam lay with his wife again, and she begat bane named Seth5, saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." Seth also begat bane named Enosh. At that time, the name of the LORD began to be called upon. ^ Genesis 4:15-26

While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." - Matthew 9:10-13 (New International Version) Do you feel more like one of these "sinners" or do you count yourself a "sacrificial" Pharisee? Why did Jesus want them to "go and learn what this means"? |

If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. - James 2:8-13 (New King James Version) |

He said to me, Mortal, eat this scoll that I give you and fill your somach with it. Then I ate it; and in my mouth it was as sweet as honey. He said to me: Mortal, go to the house of Israel and speak my very words to them... - not to many peoples of obscure speech and difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, if I sent you to them, they would listen to you. But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me; because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart. See, I have made your face hard against their faces, and your forehead hard against their foreheads. Like the hardest stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; do not fear them or be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. He said to me: Mortal, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart and hear with your ears; then go to the exiles, yo your people, and speak to them. Say to them, "Thus says the Lord GOD"; whether they hear or refuse to hear. Then the spirit lifted me up, and as the glory of the LORD rose from its place, I heard behind me the sound of loud rumbling; it was the sound of the wings of the living creatures brushing against one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, that sounded like a loud rumbling. The spirit lifted me up and bore me away; I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, the hand of the LORD being strong upon me. I came to the exiles at Tel-abib, who lived by the river Chebar. And I sat there among them, stunned, for seven days. - Ezekiel 3:3-4, 3:6-15 (New Revised Standard Version) |

.... The Roman says, "Son, didn't you see the mile marker back there? You went two miles." "Oh," the boy says, "I know. But my Master says, 'Whoever shall force you to go one mile, go with him two.' " You say, "That is going to cost me."
Remember, love is action. It is doing. Love is meeting needs. Our attitude is formed on the immediacy of who is in control, Jesus or me? I form an attitude and out of that attitude, I react. There is only one way we can be what Jesus wants us to be: by not agreeing with the old nature but by agreeing with him. That is submission to the authority of the King. When that happens, he is glorified, and people see Jesus in me. Agreeing with Jesus is not natural. It is supernatural. - W. Oscar Thompson, Jr. Concentric Circles of Concern, p. 91.
